According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Amazon is in talks with Dish Network to start a brand-new 5G network. The report stresses that an Amazon acquisition of Dish would be highly unlikely.

Both companies win from such a deal. With a Dish Network and Amazon partnership, Dish would be able to tap into Amazon's financial resources to keep building its wireless infrastructure, whereas Amazon could finally enter the world of MVNOs and begin to offer 5G wireless services to its Prime customers.

Dish has been buying up spectrum, or radio frequencies that carry the data flowing through devices, making it a potential acquisition target for US wireless carriers such as Verizon, according to industry analysts.

The companies haven't officially commented on the matter so there's no point of view that they've shared so far.
